Costa Rican Libraries…Oh Wait, There Are None!

One of the things I miss most about the States is their public libraries. It’s very hard to come by libraries in Costa Rica. I rarely ever see them. There will be times when I’ll be driving along a crowded street with scrunched up buildings on both sides and maybe I’d be able to see a small, little, run-down building with the word “biblioteca” on it, but I wouldn’t count that as MY type of library, since all the books are in Spanish.

They do have the National Library located in downtown San Jose but it’s not a public lending library and only has books that our centered around the history, heritage, and other things that were written about and in Costa Rica.

The only library that actually has books in English is at my school, although it’s pretty small and they don’t always have the books I’m looking for.

What’s a book-worm to do?
